Sail Plan

The Topaz Sailing System offers 4 rig options. 

Uno and Uno Plus

This option utilizes a two-piece mast with boom. All are free standing with no shrouds or complicated rigging.  The Uno and Uno Plus are equipped with 60 sq. ft, non-battened, simple-to-reef mainsail, with inverted leech, providing for control and easy handling. Both the Uno and Uno Plus are outfitted with a 19 sq. ft. overlapping jib with telltales and Ronstan jib leads and cleats, along with stainless clip to bow fittings.

Both the main and jib are constructed of heavy duty Dacron.  The high boom position and simple outhaul and boom attachment system with center mainsheet, make for trouble free tacking and gybing. 

Race Plus

This option utilizes the same two-piece mast with boom as the Uno and Uno Plus.

The mainsail is 74 sq. ft of reinforced Mylar, fully battened, mast sleeve, with trailing edge telltales, and Dacron jib.  Designed using the windsurf sail concept, the race approved mainsail is optimized for maximum power and apprent wind sailing and with the addition of the of the 19 sq ft jib, upwind performance is optimized.

Race X

This option utilizes the same sail and rig configuration as the Race Plus with one important addition - an 86 sq. ft asymmetric spinnaker with bow sprit.   It is an easy single-line launch and recovery system. One line hoists the spinnaker and simultaneously extends the bow sprit.  The spinnaker is then controlled using a single line sheet, enabling it to be easily jibbed or tacked.  To douse the spinnaker simply release the sheet, uncleat the halyard, and a single line stows the spinnaker and retracts the pole.  

The Race X can be sailed with or without the jib so it's easy to set-up to satisfy the requirements of the sailor or sailors on the day. 

Tres

This option utilizes a one-piece, tapered single spreader mast that fits into a unique second mast position to provide the perfect rig balance for two-handed trapeze sailing. With a 71 sq ft Mylar main sail, 23 sq ft Dacron jib and 91 sq ft asymmetric spinnaker and trapeze, this boat provides an exhilarating sailing experience.
